Feline Paradise

Standard

In a distant reality where everything is free and care is provided at others expense, without remorse or conviction, lives the luxurious Fritz the cat. On this particular day Fritz got himself into trouble. Going about his daily annoyances to the rest of the world, while also looking cute as a button, found himself sitting on the edge of an open window. The cold air whipping through his fine whiskers, and his longing for an adventure, Fritz jumped. Now outside, feeling regret, Fritz stands frozen in fear, feeling the vast opening of an entirely new world filled with truth and trickery suddenly weighing down upon him. With the smell of danger in the air, Fritz took his first steps, alone, into the real world.

The smell of danger suddenly reeks of yesterday’s catch, for the neighbors happen to be fishermen who routinely have fish fries. Cautiously, the curious cat crept closer to the can. Jumping effortlessly into the abyss following nothing but his nose, Fritz was happily plopped in the garbage next to a pile of fish bones. Everything in life seemed perfectly in place for this ferocious feline. Feasting on his bounty of bones, Fritz took little notice to the whining sound of the diesel-powered garbage truck rolling down the street with an intention to take out the trash. Caught in the mechanical fury of mankind’s machines of society, fritz the cat was dumped.

A lone kitty without a cause, on the road riding the top of the garbage truck, Fritz stared into the wild blue yonder not knowing what will come next. For an entire day Fritz was munching on fish bones in the garbage truck just before finding himself in an avalanche of garbage. Tossing and turning in the blackness of rotten food, paper and plastic, Fritz was at the garbage dump. Without hesitation, Fritz began exploring the terrain with an intention to find a way out. Out of the corner of his eye a shadowy figure grasped his attention. Another cat.

“How did another cat get here?!” thought Fritz just before the figure disappeared into a small hole in the rubble. Eager to know more about whom this other feline was, Fritz jumped down into the dark cave of waste. Stumbling and struggling to find a solid footing, a tiny light peeking through the end of the tunnel gave him the drive to keep pushing forward. As he got closer the light grew more intense. The rubble seemed to become more organized, almost as if it formed into a tiny ‘cat sized’ staircase. Then appeared two massive statues of lions with golden gates at the end of the cave. Upon approaching, the gates opened wide, revealing to Fritz a metropolis empire of felines from every corner of the planet. As far as the cat eye can see, Fritz gazed upon waterfalls of milk and scratching posts the size of the Empire State Building. Fur balls and mice scurried about the grounds being chased by other cats. Fritz was greeted by King Kittykat and told that this was the place where all curious cats end up. And for the rest of his life Fritz lived in Feline Paradise.
